HELLO ROYAL TUNBRIDGE WELLS
You are all welcome here.
Our town is a vibrant backdrop for creative individuals, inspirational events, stunning architecture, delicious food and independent shops.
We collaborate with individuals and businesses alike to shine a light on local talent and uncover real life stories.

On Saturday we tried out Co Wheels, a car sharing club with several vehicles ideally situated in Tunbridge Wells and available for as little as £5 an hour. We picked up our Toyota Yaris on Mount Ephraim Road, an automatic hybrid. With one tap of our key card the doors opened and we set off effortlessly - it was that simple!
Now the light is beginning to shine at the end of this long dark rollercoaster of a ride we’ve all had to endure and finally our longing to gain some normality back is so close! Little baby steps forward as restrictions are eased we will be able to see who we want, cuddle who we want, go where we want, eat out, go to the gym…. And so much more!
We’re sisters – Kate and Liv Thurlwell. Liv Thurlwell is an emerging contemporary British jeweller, and this is our first jewellery collection designed as a team. Jewellery runs in our blood.
So, what if we were ready? What if we were Spring ready? When the new year started so many of us hoped that because we “thought" about making change, it would "make” change happen and like any New Years’ resolution we kind of needed it to work more than ever.
Beautiful, well-executed, and thoughtfully designed, we love the homes created by local building company, AMLY. We talk to the Founder, Alex Campbell-Lloyd about navigating a home renovation in a pandemic, how he started in the construction industry, and why it' is so important to have a devoted team of professionals around him….
The news last night that lockdown restrictions are set to ease on the 2nd of December was a welcome one! We’ve missed the spontaneity of dining out when the mood takes us and we’ve especially missed one of our favourites, Sankey’s.
To get through what is hopefully our last weekend in lockdown (is that too hopeful?!) we’ll be trying this delicious recipe to recreate the magic that only comes when dining on The Pantiles.
We can all agree that this year has been a weird one. However, the promise of Christmas is like the light at the end of the tunnel, and one that I am keen to speed ahead to.
Our local shops have suffered massively over the past few months, so with that in mind, We pledge to make a greater effort to shop locally. To support our high street businesses and champion the artisans.
Thinking of doing the same? To help, We've pulled together a handful of smaller businesses based in Kent, that offer high quality and unique products.
It’s tough right now and more than anything we all just want to support each other and get through this time. Please reach out if you need anything, don’t suffer alone - we can connect people and businesses as and when required. With that in mind, we’ve set up ‘Pay it forward’.
It’s simple, genuine offers of support and kindness that will bring positivity and happiness to another person, no money changes hands and we will highlight anyone offering a good deed. Here’s how you get involved...
The TN Card launched in February this year, a local loyalty scheme designed to reward its customers and bring our community together. It’s Founder, Jess Gibson is passionate about bringing independent businesses and individuals together by highlighting unique offers, new brands, and products. We met Jess to chat about her business, its mission, and where she’ll be shopping for Christmas gifts this year…

Ella Leeds, a London restaurant publicist originally from Tunbridge Wells shows us how to make the perfect Scotch Egg…..
These scotch eggs are the perfect pairing for picnics, barbecues, or just as an afternoon snack. They’re baked in the oven, instead of being deep fat fried, so save on fat and calories along the way, whilst still being indulgent.
This week we’ve been baking, trying to make something out of nothing with varying successes. With no self-raising flour in the house and no hope of finding it available in the shops, we turned to plain flour recipes.
As part of our ‘staycation’ series, we were kindly invited to spend a night at the Old School Cottage, a beautifully renovated building situated behind The Dorset Arms on the Buckhurst Estate in Withyham. Set deep within the English countryside lies The Dorset Arms, an 18th Century public house owned by the De La Warr family.

ROYAL TUNBRIDGE WELLS
As part of our #staycation series, we were invited to stay at Romney Marsh Shepherd’s huts by Kristina and her husband Paul. The huts are situated on their farm that’s been in their family for over 130 years.
Our journey from Tunbridge Wells takes us south to Romney Marsh in around 50mins by car taking in some beautiful Kent countryside. We arrive on the farm and are warmly greeted and shown where to park, my 3-year-old son who is joining me on this staycation is a ball of excitement having spotted all sheep in the fields!
As part of our #staycation series we were invited by Stephen and Jane to experience Downash Wood, they have created a family retreat including two treehouses and two log cabins. Their son dreamed of having a treehouse in the woods so they went about creating it and spent the last three years building these unique and beautiful spaces for guests to enjoy.

In the first of our staycation series we explore the finest hotels, bed and breakfasts and accommodation in and around Tunbridge Wells. As residents we rarely take the opportunity to stay in these beautiful places, so we wanted to experience first-hand what is on offer so we can whole-heartedly recommend them to you. Our insider’s guide gives you the low down on everything you need to know, whether you’re hosting family in town or just want to escape for a night away…

This International Women’s Day we celebrate just some of the very extraordinary individuals living and working within Tunbridge Wells and surrounding areas. Discover more about them, what inspires them, and what drives them to make positive changes for the greater good.
