Your next chapter...
Now the light is beginning to shine at the end of this long dark rollercoaster of a ride we’ve all had to endure and finally our longing to gain some normality back is so close. Little baby steps forward as restrictions are eased we will be able to see who we want, cuddle who we want, go where we want, eat out, go to the gym…. and so much more!
However, the changes we made to get to this point in our lives haven’t gone by without leaving behind some scars of varying kinds and levels both mentally and physically.
Working from home sitting hours at the kitchen table, juggling homeschooling, job security, lack of exercise, not seeing family or friends, and generally not knowing how to plan our future paths, all of which cause stress, lack of sleep, pain, and anxieties.
As lockdown is coming to an end, we as health and wellness professionals are seeing a bigger shift. Over the years, more and more emphasis has been placed on the importance of health and wellness but since the pandemic, it truly is a necessity in our lives.
So, without meaning to sound like Mother here…. why do we not put ourselves first? Pain is real and it hurts. Anxieties or stress cause psychological pain, then physical pain if not resolved, and then when the pain comes, we become scared to move, equaling more pain and more stress.
Taking time out of your day for you to reset is so important in order to do a job well. Employers are now more understanding that you don’t have to be at your desk 9-5 to be productive. It’s about a balance, a break during the day keeps you on form and you should embrace it, stepping away from time to time in anything you do can mean you come back more refreshed and with more focus to finish properly, whether that’s taking 10 minutes out to make a drink, to go for a 20-minute walk or run or to have a treatment. Time for you is not a luxury.
Listen to you…the body is an amazing thing and the more we listen to it the more it will look after you… our bodies have a unique way of telling us to slow down, to stop, or to take a break. It’s real, it’s yours, you own it.
