TOP TEN AUTUMN BEAUTY MUST HAVES
Introducing Stephanie Looker, a local beauty blogger with years of experience trialing various skincare and make-up brands from across the globe. She is your go-to guru when it comes to all things nail-art, she tirelessly practises her craft while juggling a busy career in PR.
Here’s her ultimate must-have guide to see summer skin through the transitional period in to Autumn.
1. Charlotte Tilbury, Airbrush Flawless Foundation, £34
Launched at the end of August, the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless foundation is a fuller coverage option compared to her previous Magic Foundation. Whilst the Airbrush Flawless leaves more of a matte finish, it still promises to deliver the traditional Charlotte Tilbury glowy complexion, and is also infused with skincare to help reduce wrinkles and boost moisture all day long. This is a great option for the transition from wearing no makeup or lighter BB creams in Summer, to wearing fuller coverage makeup and still maintaining a natural looking dewy glow.
2. Benefit, Boi-ing Cakeless Concealer, £18.50
The original Boi-ing Cakeless Concealer from Benefit came in a pot, but recently they decided to add a tube and applicator version of this popular concealer to the collection. The liquid concealer hides everything from dark under-eye circles to blemishes and discolouration. It provides high coverage, but as the name suggests, feels lightweight and doesn’t cake or crack. The Cushion Tip creates a smooth application and blends seamlessly for long-wearing, waterproof coverage.
3. REN, Non- Drying Spot Treatment, £15
Those who are blemish prone will know that a sudden change in temperature can wreak havoc with your skin. SPF and make-up can clog up pores but as we enter into the colder months, central heating can also cause breakouts very easily. Clean skincare brand REN have created a new spot treatment, which topically targets the spot without drying it out like a lot of other treatments do. The treatment uses Willow Bark to naturally reduce redness and spot size, without leaving any dry flaky patches. Maritime Pine and Thyme work to reduce the potential for scarring and minimises redness.
4. Glossier, Berry Balm Dot Com, £10
Glossier is the millennial beauty brand making waves in the industry by celebrating the natural beauty in everyone. The newest balm dot com to join Glossier’s growing collection is the shade Berry which is a lovely transitional shade for the upcoming cooler months. If you’re new to trying darker berry lip colours, this is a great product to start with as this balm has a sheer finish, and the dark berry flavour is an added bonus!
5. Dead Sea Spa Magik, Dead Sea Salt Brushing, £13
I’ve been using this body exfoliator for years now and it is a must have body product for all year round, however as the drier months start to creep in it is especially helpful for keeping flaky skin at bay. Dead Sea Spa Magik is locally based in Goudhurst and they specialise in products made using salt from the Dead Sea, which has amazing healing properties. Their products work particularly well for problematic skin, but can be enjoyed by anyone! The salt brushing is used on dry skin to remove dead skin cells, and once washed off the infused coconut oil leaves your skin feeling incredibly nourished.
6. L’Oreal Elvive Rapid Hair Revivers, £5.50
Much like skin, hair can also be damaged by UV rays of the sun. Whilst a hair mask can be a great intensive solution to dried out hair, they often need to be left on for 20-30 mins which a lot of people just don’t have time to do. L’Oreal have come up with a solution and created a generation of power conditioners, infused with amino acids. These conditioners contain double the amount of ingredients as a usual Conditioner and combine the intensive properties of a mask but in the time you would use a conditioner, without leaving your hair feeling weighed down. After shampooing, you apply to wet hair from lengths to tips and rinse thoroughly. No leave-in time necessary, perfect for those who are time poor!
7. Nails.Inc, Just Kinda Bliss Nail Duo, £15
I am a huge lover of every nail duo Nails.Inc releases, and the latest ‘Just Kinda Bliss’ duo incorporates the latest trend ingredient Cannabis Sativa seed oil, which contains essential fatty acids, omega-3 and omega-6 to add moisture to your nails. The duo comes in the form of a treatment / base coat and also a nail colour. The brick red shade is amazing for balmy summer evenings, and will be a great transition shade heading into the Autumnal months.
8. Haekles, Dreamland Fragrance, £130
Haekles is a Kent brand based in Margate which is becoming increasingly recognised as a highly favourable brand in the beauty world, being stocked in well known London stores such as Fortnum and Mason. Haekles harvests seaweed from the Kentish coastlines by hand to create amazing natural products, as seaweed is known for its anti-inflammatory properties. I personally love the idea behind the fragrances, which are inspired by areas local to Margate. In particular, the fragrance Dreamland has an intense sweetness to start, which you’d expect from a fragrance inspired by an amusement park. However the base notes are smoky and woody, as it is inspired by the historic wooden rides that famously became victim to arson once upon a time. The combination of florals and wood are perfect for this time of year.
9. Fenty Beauty, MVP Brow Pencil, £17
Rhianna’s beauty brand has pushed boundaries ever since it launched in 2017. With a groundbreaking 40 shades of foundation, the brand strives for inclusivity and has now expanded into the world of eyebrows. Fenty Beauty recently launched the MVP brow pencils in 14 longwear shades. These retractable pencils give hair-like precision and promise longwear, waterproof, smudge-resistant brows. At the other end of the pencil is a built-in paddle brush for effortless blending and styling.

10. Urban Decay Naked Honey Palette, £42
Lastly, a little something to keep an eye out for is the launch of the Urban Decay Honey palette. Expected to be released on the 13th September, this palette includes 12 warm golds and bronzey shimmers which will work perfectly for the last of the Summer nights as well as some glam day time Autumn looks. This palette is gorgeous and an absolute must have for any beauty lover this season.
