Sunny Tunny

We spotted Andy on Instagram a while back, he's got a keen creative eye so we were chuffed when he agreed to walk around town and capture some exclusive shots for OTW. Here's what the guy behind the lens had to say when we interviewed him.....

Where do you live? Broadwater Down, I've been there for 7 years now and previous to that I lived in Hildenborough.

What I do? I currently work as a graphic designer over in Marden.

What do you love most about TW? The atmosphere, especially on a sunny weekend. I find there is a friendly and almost joyful feeling about the town. There is usually something going on that you may not find on a normal high street, it makes TW feel alive, even if you are just popping to the shops for milk!

You take some great photos, what do you think makes good subject matter?  I think that anything can make a picture, it depends more on how the subject is looked at by the individual. Personally, I like to try and find the areas that are noticed less often. The parts of buildings or environments that you may pass by regularly without noticing them. That said I am also easily distracted, so it’s often what jumps out at me or makes me smile.

Where do you find inspiration? I try and find it from as many places as possible. I am a curious person so just try and keep my eyes open to all sorts. I think it’s important not to close yourself off to what’s out there and around you. Staying open means that inspiration can come from the smallest things and the strangest times, and I always find it exciting when it does.

Do you feel inspired by the town? I do, I think there are a lot of creative people trying to express themselves. I see this in the people playing music near RVP, the offerings in local markets and Jazz on the Pantiles every Thursday evening. I think this shows me that if you are passionate about something you have the ability to chase it, which is inspiring.

Where do you hang out?  I really enjoy relaxing and meeting friends around the Pantiles, it often gives me the feeling on being on holiday, even though it's just the first place I get to from my house.

What changes would you make in the town? I would like to see some re-development made to the top end of RVP, there are a lot of empty shops at the moment. I don’t think this reflects the overall feeling of the town so it is a shame to see.

What's your plan for the weekend: Just the one, I'm heading to the food festival on the Pantiles, fingers crossed the weather is sunny.
